Sunrise and Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin | Washington, DC

The alarm went off at 4:30 a.m., and as I turned it off, I considered going back to sleep.  I was really really tired.  But, no.  I told myself I was going to do this.  So, I stretched my tired body, and pulled myself up and out.  It was Easter weekend, and I wanted to see the Glory that God hath made.

Nothing hits me more than watching the sunrise.  Day after day, it comes.  It’s always a new day, an opportunity for a new start, a do-over, a “try again” day.  A beginning.  And He did this for us.

I am humbled in the presence of the sunrise.

The morning was gorgeous.  The blooms were a-plenty.  I have been to see the Cherry Blossoms many many times over the past many years, and this years were some of the fluffiest, pinkest, fully-attached blossoms I have seen during the bloom season.

But it was when I saw this grove that my heart went all a-flutter.  I knew that this was it, my black and white image.  I know, who thinks “cherry blossoms” and thinks “black and white”?  Right?  Me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the all the colors and shades of pink, but this, this is how I see.  And this made my day.

Here are a couple more of my faves ~

I call this one “flight.”  Bird v. plane.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I look forward to sharing more from my weekend ~ two shoots and some actual pics of my kiddos.

till then,

A

W O W!!! Spectacular! Awe-inspiring! Perfection! Simply put – gorgeous. This makes me really sad that I missed it – this year! Let’s pencil it in for next. Good with you? I’m very happy that you were able to experience the beauty and capture such timeless shots. I love the black and white. And the dainty pink blossoms against the dark branches, breathtaking. Beautifully done, Aileen. You never cease to amaze me, my dear friend.
